im trying to get the sord m5 msx excellent copier to work. it wont load msx programs from tape. im using the mame emulator. ive managed to get the bn.cn fies to load. im not sure what baud rate i should use and its rather confusing. any ideas? ive conveted a .cas file to a wav and tried 1200 and 2400 baud.

You are trying to load something (what exactly?) into Excellent Copy?
Excellent Copy does not read Your m5 files in MAME?
What MSX programs are You talking about? Native MSX format or m5 format?

im trying to load the ourtrun game into it. its in native format .cas that has been converted into a wav.

Just to be sure You know what are You doing:

MSX 1.B - loads MSX files in native MSX format
MSX 1.C - loads MSX files already converted to m5 format
MSX 1.D - loads files from floppy
Excellent Copy - loads and copies m5 files (and MSX files already converted to m5 format)
MSX->SORD - loads MSX files in native MSX format and saves them in m5 format

So, Excellent Copy will NOT load MSX native format file.

Do You want to copy it?

MSX->SORD.CN is a runable binary, can be loaded directly into Sord m5 after switching on.

Do not confuse it with CBLOAD.BN, which loads directly into emulator MSX1.C (BLOAD "CBLOAD",R, CBLOAD does not work with other versions), where it can load MSX native files of certain types:
CSAVEd (tokenised) Basic (CLOAD)
binary files (FILES, LFILES)

its ok, i got it working now. but it says not enough memory to run...

I understand, that You have no real hardware ad You are trying in emulator.
What memory configurtaion have You set?
MSX->SORD cannot run with the basic (4 KiO) RAM.
You nedd EM5 expansion (32 KiO) or 64 KiO RAM expansion.

im running 64k ram expansion. i think it needs more. 28.8k is available in msx basic atm
